Photo Shoot

Oakdale was recently used for a photo shoot for RAW Fashion Magazine. Following are pictures that feature some of the farm's Irish and Thoroughbred horses.

Calais Horse Trials

Yea! Oakdale took Beginner Novice by storm Saturday, November 5th at Calais! Emily Schlake, on Eclipse, started us off with 29 in Dressage. Beginner Novice finished in this order: Emily Schakle 2nd, Berkley Mathews 4th & Julie Blackburn 6th. Margo did her first novice horse trial on Annie & was 3rd in dressage.

Area II Junior Novice Championships

Leah Fralin was 4th this Weekend in Area II Junior Novice Championships.

Nether rain nor sleet nor mud stopped her & Oakdale's former Sale horse - Chabang. Way to Go!

Oakdale Shines at Last Show of Season

Judy Lancaster on Sallie led the way with a win in cross rails at her first combined test.

Lisa Smith & Tempi were 4th in the same class.

Lindsey Eck and Tess continued their winning ways with a second in beginner novice.

Emily Schlake was 4th on Eve at her 2nd show.

Peggy Redmond dropped her dressage score over 10 points.

Margo Hardy closed the show with 3rd in Novice.

Results of Lexington Starter Horse Trials Sept 5, 2011:
 
Leah Fralin led the crew with a 1st place in Junior Novice finishing on her 28 dressage score.
 
Liam & I were 2nd in Training with double clear stadium & xcountry. We were able to ride the in and out
to the triple in the correct striding for the first time ever in stadium.
 
Lindsey Eck was 3rd in Novice - Dropping 9 points off her best dressage score - She was in Terry
dressage camp all week and it paid off.
 
Emily road Eclipse in Beginner novice for the first time and finished 4th with a double clear xcountry.
 
Berkley had a quick dismount at the first fence xcountry but got back on and road her xcountry like a
champ - she won the best sportsmanship award with a big red ribbon.
 
Margaret Wilson closed the show with jaw dropping dressage scoring 65 & 68 in training level dressage and coming home with not one but 2 blues.

Liam Irwin Is back from Ireland!!!!

 

Liam is available now to start young horses,  reschool problem horses and help with teaching horses to hunt or move up to first flight.

Chris Hitchcock is now teaching at Oakdale!

His students are consistently successful and competitive from Beginner Novice up through Intermediate. His attention to perfect practice and focus on the fundamentals assures that each horse and rider arrives at their destination with a thorough education. Directions

From Chesterfield - West on Rt. 60 (Midlothian Turnpike). Go past the Maidens Road intersection and turn right at first right on Bell Road. Go to stop sign and turn left on Cartersville Road. Farm is 4-1/2 miles on left. From Goochland - Cross James River on Rt. 522 (Maidens Road).  Go 5 miles.   Just past gas station at Huguenot Trail turn right on Cosby Road (Go slow here -Cosby is easy to pass) Cosby changes to Cartersville Road at 4 miles. Go 4 more miles and farm is on left.
From Charlottesville
Get off I64 at Zion Crossroads - Take Rt 15 south  until you get to Rt 6.  Turn left on Rt 6 and go east. At Hadensville Turn Right on Rt 45 . Go across James River & thru town of Cartersville.  After town turn left in sharp curve on Cartersville Road Extension.  Go approximately 4 miles - Farm is on right just past Trenholm Road.
